Revelstoke And Area Emergency Management Program (RAEMP)
Emergencies should be reported to 911 who, in turn, will immediately notify the appropriate local first responders.

Our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is staffed only during an emergency. When activated, the EOC call-in centre number will be posted HERE.

A variety of factors can cause emergencies, such as wildfire, transportation accidents, flooding, industrial accidents, structural failure, terrorism or disease. Not only will these emergencies directly affect individual health and well-being, they can disrupt the community and have long-term, widespread effects. Whatever the cause, RAEMP works to reduce their impact.

The diverse climate and land base of our area affords a variety of potential disasters.  In any emergency, telephone, gas, electricity and water services may be disrupted for days.  Roads could be blocked and stores and gas stations closed.  Being aware of the dangers and the best ways in which to lessen their impact is the core of emergency preparedness.

Emergencies are managed first at the local level: hospitals, fire departments, police and municipalities. If local authorities need assistance, it can be requested from the province and further escalated to the federal level. Thus the coordination and provisioning of resources can move quickly from the local to the national level.

It is important to be prepared for any emergency by ensuring you have supplies and a plan for what you and your family would do in the event of a major disaster.  There are many factors that can take control of emergency rescue attempts. Help may not reach you immediately.  Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours or 3 days.
